Beyond Google

So, one of the first things I’ve gotten involved with at Pratt is the Beyond Google course. Our libraries just gained the ability to offer for-credit classes, and last Spring, two librarians taught the first one-unit information literacy class. This semester, I’m co-teaching it with one of those librarians, and I’m really excited about it.

Right now we’re busily building the course wiki, which is a new addition this semester. Check it out if you’d like to, but be forewarned– we’re still pulling it together (sheesh! hurry up already! the class starts this Thursday!)  We’re trying to demonstrate to students not just traditional information literacy skills, but how to investigate and use contemporary technologies to assist in the research process. Yay!
